The Intelli-Patch focuses on detecting driveline infections of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). It is a bullseye adhesive that measures driveline discharge levels and a colormetric change of the bandage when S. aureus concentrations reach infectious threshold levels. This detections allows patients to see infection and seek medical attention. The ability to diagnose infection early on will potentially decrease driveline infection deaths, the amount of LVAD reimplantation, and the average medical costs patients incur.
