2018: TUBLOX

a novel alternative contraceptive

Tublox is a novel tubal contraceptive that provides a reversible and effective fallopian tube occlusion. This semi-permanent birth control option involves a non-invasive procedure in which the balloon catheter is inserted through the vaginal canal and the uterus and into the fallopian tube. The balloon is then inflated with a saline solution containing dye and is sealed by a fast-acting adhesive. The tube of the catheter is then cut below the adhesive blockage. Tublox is projected to be inflated and prevent fertilization for at least sixth months. After that time period, or by the desires of the patient, the balloon can be deflated and removed by a surgeon and can be replaced.
